Cinemas
Electric Cinema
A fitting location amid Portobello Road's eclectic bars, bric-a-brac and bistros has ensured the ongoing success of The Electric, although the enterprising venue is always coming up with new ways of getting bums on sofas. It was first to offer Mum-and-baby daytime screenings and maintains a varied programme to satisfy both mainstream and indie audiences. You still need to book early to get a seat at the cinema, never mind the bar and restaurant next door, which is heaving with a fashionable crowd and the odd celebrity, even on a soggy Monday night.
The Rex Cinema
The state of the art 75 seat screening room, with its ergonomically designed red seats & funky carpet, is fully equipped for the most demanding of presentations. Its more formal feel is the perfect compliment to the after-work atmosphere of the lounge. The cinema screens old classics as well as advance previews of soon-to-be-released blockbuster movies. Film seasons are also planned.
The Everyman Cinema Club
If there's anywhere outside Notting Hill that can sustain a swanky cinema, it's Hampstead. Despite the name, you don't have to be a member to see a movie here, although there is a members' club, which entitles members to free movies with a guest at anytime, a free two-hour private screening and special events and screenings, for £575 a year. The crowd is mostly north-west London intellectual types and there's much discussing of movies after each showing, which includes new releases, world cinema and classics.
The Exhibit
The boutique cinema caters for up to 24 people on two seater leather sofas. Completely sound proofed, air conditioned, with a state of the art digital projector and THX surround sound we promise to bring you sheer viewing delight. Order drinks and snacks to have during the film or have a meal before hand and bring your pudding up with you!
Vue Cinemas
Vue is a run of the mill cinema. Usually has multiple screens and shows all the newest films. You can buy refreshments and I think some of their cinemas have a bar too.
Cineworld Cinemas
Cineworld have cinemas everywhere. I love this particular cinema because they have a great deal where you can pay a fixed price which is about £10 - £16 a month and you can watch as many films as you like.
Odeon Cinemas
Odeon is a mainstream chain of cinemas. The most popular of their cinemas is in Leicester Square where they sometimes host film premieres. A chance to meet your favourite film stars.
Curzon Cinemas
The Curzon Soho, voted London's top cinema by readers of Time Out, is the city's leading indie cinema. The art-house screenings draw a trendy crowd, and a recent change of rules means movie-goers can now take alcoholic drinks into the cinema with them.
